Even though my husband always tells me that I look like a referee every time I wear anything black and white striped, I refuse to be deterred. And when I spotted this skirt at Forever21, I knew it was right up my alley (hello, stripes!). Maxi skirts are really the perfect transitional piece of the moment that you can wear now, and later. And I am always a fan of adding pieces to your wardrobe that can serve a variety of purposes. An added bonus?? While I am not tall by any means (5’4″ if I’m stretching on my tiptoes), the long flowing vertical stripes of this skirt give off the illusion that I am actually taller than I am. Hallelujah!

So I’ve got to be honest, I’m a little sad to be back to the grind today. J and I had the most fabulous time in Nica and it’s hard to believe it’s over already. But the good news is, we have family in town visiting and spent the weekend catching up on life and sneaking in some time on the slopes.

Sea Stripes

I love stripes-any time of the year and for any occasion. And I especially love this JCrew striped mini. I love the vibrant colors mixed with a splash of gold. It feels festive and fun, while still being super casual (if you want it to be). I am even loving mixing metals and wearing both silver and gold with this particular piece. And seriously, how gorgeous is the balcony off our master suite at the Sea House? The home where we are spending our time in SJDS is beyond gorgeous in every way. I’m in love…

Vacation Style

Hola!! This morning I am writing this post to you guys from San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua. If you checked out any of last week’s posts, or follow me on Instagram (alldolledupblog), then you know Justin and I are on vacation. And what a glorious vacation it has been! This is our 2nd time in SJDS and we are absolutely in love. Beautiful town, wonderful people, and an incredibly laid back lifestyle which has made it pretty easy for us to just kick back and relax. The biggest question of the day tends to be whether to go to the beach (surfing for J), or hang by the pool at our house.

We didn’t bring our DSLR with us, so J snapped these photos with his phone out on our patio while we were enjoying our favorite time of the day here…the sunset. Even Jack (our guard dog), loves to sit and watch the sunset with us and insisted in being in some of the photos with me. 🙂 Maxi skirts, minimal jewelry, and bright tanks have pretty much been my go-to uniform since we’ve been here (outside of bathing suits). And I am loving the super high slit of this maxi. Pretty sure it’s my favorite thing that I packed-not to mention that it cost less than $20!!! Tough to beat that!

I am definitely a high heel kind of girl. Not a huge fan of flats, and while I do love boots, if I had my choice, let’s be honest, I’d wear a fab pair of pumps everyday. And so it should come as no surprise that this season I am especially loving making a statement with my footwear. Don’t you just love that shoes aren’t just shoes anymore, but rather outfit completing accessories?

I have had my eye on this leopard sleeved Townsen sweatshirt for SO LONG! But I just couldn’t justify paying full price for it (because I don’t pay full price for anything-seriously!). So when it went on sale for less than half price right after Christmas, I knew I had to pounce (no pun intended!). And I am certainly glad that I did. If you follow me on Instagram (AllDolledUpBlog), then you know I rocked a very similar outfit to this one a couple of weeks ago for a shopping date with one of my best friends at Nordstrom. Lips: Nars Heat Wave

I hope that you all had a most wonderful Super Bowl weekend! We had a great weekend skiing at the resorts and in the backcountry, celebrating the 4th birthday of one of our very favorite little guys, and of course cheering on the Seahawks and the Broncos in the Super Bowl! It’s not very often that all your homies from the west make it into the big dance. So even though we may have slightly sided with the Broncos (Peyton is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met), it was still pretty rad to see the west represent!
